A resident of Monmouth County, New Jersey, has tested positive for measles following a recent international trip, according to state health officials. No additional cases linked to this individual have been confirmed so far.

Health officials have identified the following locations where residents may have been exposed to measles:

Freehold: Livoti’s Old World Market (200 Mounts Corner Dr.)
Sept. 30, 5:30–8:30 p.m.

Freehold: El Rancho Mexican Restaurant (28 W. Main St.)
Oct. 1, 7:30–10:30 p.m.

Elizabeth: International Longshoreman Association Strike (Elizabeth Chassis Depot near the “Welcome to Elizabeth Terminal” sign)
Oct. 1–3, all day

Marlboro: Atlantic Health Immediate Care (479 Route 420, Suite A103)
Oct. 6, 3–6 p.m.

Neptune City: Jersey Shore University Medical Center Emergency Department (1945 NJ-33)
Oct. 7, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

Those who were at these locations during the specified times may develop symptoms as late as October 29. Contact tracing efforts are underway to notify individuals who may have been exposed.

Health officials advise anyone who believes they may have been exposed to measles or suspects they are contagious to contact a healthcare provider before visiting a facility, allowing precautions to protect staff and other patients.

Individuals who have not been fully vaccinated or have never had measles are at risk of infection. Measles is highly contagious, spreading through the air when an infected person coughs or sneezes, and can remain airborne for up to two hours.
